Help communities in crisis in the U.S. and around the world.

There are so many humanitarian emergencies constantly happening within the United States and all over the globe today – it can feel overwhelming to know how to help. That’s why CORE has created our annual Emergency Fund*. Your gift today allows our trained emergency response team to deploy – wherever and whenever disaster-stricken families need help the most. Your gift allows CORE to be a long-lasting organization always ready to respond. These CORE funds also maintain the critical assistance toward our longer-term programs in California, GeorgiaNorth Carolina, Ukraine, Haiti, and Sudan.

As the climate crisis worsens, people worldwide must prepare to face more frequent and extreme weather events, such as powerful early-season hurricanes, once-in-a-generation floods, and devastating wildfires that increasingly affect major urban centers. CORE’s climate resilience program works with vulnerable communities to implement climate action plans and build readiness to aid resiliency. As we brace for more climate catastrophes, CORE’s Emergency Response Fund will power an estimated 12 emergency responses this year

CORE’s emergency response services include disaster case management, home repairs, mobile medical teams, relocation support, cash, and voucher assistance, and so much more.

*Note: At the close of the response, contributions for active responses will continue to create incredible impact and be reallocated to CORE’s Emergency Fund (CORE’s Mission). If you have any questions about your gift or would like to cancel your recurring giving plan, please reach out to us at [email protected]

WE ARE RESPONDING

ALASKA FLOODS

In the wake of catastrophic flooding triggered by the remnants of Typhoon Halong, some of Alaska’s most remote and vulnerable communities are facing devastating losses.

Fourteen tribal nations have declared a state of emergency, and entire villages have been evacuated by air to Anchorage. Displaced families are sheltering in emergency facilities or with host families, many with no promise of returning home before winter. CORE’s emergency response team is on the ground in Anchorage, coordinating with local leadership and assessing the needs of displaced Indigenous communities. Check back here for more updates.

GAZA HUMANITARIAN CRISIS

Since the recent ceasefire agreement, safe corridors to Gaza have increased, allowing humanitarian organizations to deliver lifesaving resources. Despite this, the scope of the needs is staggering as families return to damaged or destroyed homes and a lack of local infrastructure or services.

CORE is working with our trusted, long-time partner All Hands & Hearts (AH&H) and local organizations on-the-ground to deliver 130,000 pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables directly into the hands of vulnerable families. Nutritious foods remain either too expensive or impossible to access, so this is a critical lifeline, especially for children.

CORE will continue to work with local partners to find efficient ways to reach the most vulnerable as the long-term process of recovery begins. We are incredibly grateful to AH&H and all the humanitarian organizations who are working tirelessly to reach those impacted in this extremely complex environment.

WE ARE RESPONDING

SYRIA HUMANITARIAN CRISIS

After over a decade of conflict, the situation in Syria remains one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises, with more than 16.7 million people in need of humanitarian assistance (UNHCR). Since the fall of the Assad government in December 2024, over one million refugees have returned from neighboring countries, many of whom continue to face persistent and widespread poverty, unemployment, and food insecurity. Access to essentials like food, electricity, water, and medicine and protection from violence and exploitation remain critical needs for millions of refugees.

CORE is working with our partner Ihsan RD to empower local organizations in Deir ez-Zur, Syria to implement community-driven initiatives that improve daily life, build social cohesion, and address local needs with dignity and flexibility. Together, we’re providing cash assistance and training to help these organizations drive meaningful change with the tools and support they need to reach vulnerable communities.

PAKISTAN FLOODS

Following a devastating cloudburst incident in Buner District, Pakistan, that caused deadly flooding, CORE’s local partner, Riverside Development Organization (RDO), distributed winter kits to flood-affected communities in the area.

A needs assessment revealed that families in the hilly regions of Buner were already experiencing an early onset of winter. With limited resources and infrastructure damaged by the floods, many households were struggling to cope with the cold. The winter kits, which included essential items to keep people warm, were distributed to the most vulnerable households identified through the assessment.

CORE has a long history of working in Pakistan to provide both short and long-term humanitarian relief. Learn more about our previous response and recovery efforts in the region.

LONG-TERM RECOVERY

LOS ANGELES FIRES

On January 7, 2025, several major wildfires erupted across the greater Los Angeles area. More than 16,000 structures were destroyed – including homes, schools, and businesses. This devastating disaster has changed LA County forever.

CORE deployed an emergency response team on day 1 – and will continue to support families impacted by the fires over the years-long journey to recovery. We’ve already supported more than 25,000 people with vital relief supply distributions, cash assistance, and more.

We are now in Phase 2 of our response, addressing the long-term challenges as we work to rebuild a stronger and more resilient Los Angeles through our comprehensive 5-year community recovery plan.

LONG-TERM RECOVERY

HURRICANE HELENE

North Carolina and Georgia

It’s been one year since Hurricane Helene caused a 500-mile path of destruction spanning from Florida to North Carolina. After deploying rapid response teams to Georgia and North Carolina to meet immediate needs, CORE expanded operations into Swannanoa, NC. Our local team rehabilitated 25 mobile homes in the Alan Campos mobile home community.

CORE remains committed to ensuring that impacted families have access to safe and stable housing, especially during another intense hurricane season. In April 2025, we formally established the Home Rebuild Program, through which we’ve launched home repairs in vulnerable communities in North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee.
