Meet Ratan.
She has been disabled since she was 10 months old and can’t use her legs. That’s never stopped her from cooking for her family and doing things around her home. But getting the COVID-19 vaccine was another story.
Ratan lives in the slums of Pune, India, where there were no nearby vaccination sites. With no transportation, she had no access to getting the life-saving vaccine.
With our local partners, CORE picked up Ratan at her home and drove her directly to a vaccination site. She said there would have been no other way for her to receive the vaccine. Ratan expressed her gratitude by insisting our staff enjoy (a bountiful helping of) biscuits and ginger chai tea.
