Mohamed Widaa Osman
Director, Sudan
As the Director of CORE’s Sudan operations, Mr. Widaa oversees the planning, implementation, and management of emergency programs across the country. Working amid the world’s most severe humanitarian crisis, he supports a team of 14 local staff who collaborate closely with local partners and community-based organizations to reach vulnerable communities safely. Under his leadership, CORE provides critical healthcare, nutrition, livelihoods support, and cash assistance to help families meet their basic needs. Mr. Widaa also builds and maintains strong relationships with donors and partners and represents CORE in coordination meetings to help ensure effective programming across the region.
With 17 years of experience in humanitarian, conflict, and development contexts in Sudan, Mr. Widaa has led program management in gender equality, youth programming, education, and livelihoods, while contributing to a 5-year country strategy for Plan International Sudan. He brings expertise in rights-based programming, advocacy, and gender equality, alongside strong strategic thinking and coordination skills across diverse teams and stakeholders. His work spans grassroots engagement and high-level representation with donors, government entities, and global offices.
