On average, $25,000 equips our emergency response team to respond the moment disaster strikes, meeting urgent needs such as rapid cash assistance, clean water, food, hygiene kits, protective gear, and medical supplies. It also supports stabilization efforts, including debris removal and emergency roof tarping.

When the Crisis Ends, The Work Continues
Haiti taught us what it takes to see recovery through: a steady commitment to showing up, month after month. That’s the power of CORE’s Giving Circle.
After the 2010 Haiti earthquake, CORE made a commitment that extended far beyond emergency relief. Working alongside local communities, we helped clear the rubble from Port-au-Prince in just five years—a task many believed would take decades. But our work didn’t stop there. Today, we continue investing in Haiti through climate resilience initiatives that help communities build a stronger, more sustainable future. Haiti became the foundation for how CORE approaches every disaster: by partnering with communities to address immediate needs while investing in the long-term solutions that make recovery sustainable.
Recovery doesn’t end when the headlines do. It takes years of commitment, trusted partnerships, and reliable funding to rebuild lives and communities. Through CORE’s Giving Circle, monthly donors make it possible for us to stay when others leave—and help families find their way back home.
Learn more about where we are today
Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, CORE is a global humanitarian organization. We have over 100+ staff based at HQ and at our global offices in Haiti, Jamaica, Sudan, Syria, as well as across the U.S. in California, Georgia, and North Carolina to support our local programs.
The 2025 Los Angeles Wildfires are a powerful example of CORE’s commitment to standing with communities long after the immediate crisis is over. For many families in Altadena and the Pacific Palisades, the hardest part of recovery is only beginning. Experts estimate it will take at least 10 years to rebuild, and more than 7 in 10 survivors remain displaced.
Because of the incredible generosity of supporters who helped provide more than $12 million in the first three months after the fires, CORE was able to make a 5-year commitment to Los Angeles. Today, we operate one of the largest Disaster Case Management programs in the region, helping survivors navigate the complex path to recovery. At The Hub in Altadena, families receive personalized support, housing guidance, and connections to critical resources to help them rebuild. In December 2026, CORE will expand this commitment with the opening of the Center for Community, expanding in-person support for impacted families.
After more than a decade of conflict, CORE is helping Syrian communities rebuild from the ground up. Hear directly from our local team about what this recovery looks like on the ground, and how the determination of everyday Syrians – and collaboration with local, private, and public partners – is driving it forward.
Timeline
From Crisis to Recovery
When disaster strikes, people need more than a supply drop. They need someone who stays.
Depending on the scale of the disaster, $250,000 can help CORE stay on the ground for 1–6 months with technical shelter experts and cash teams. During this phase, we provide flexible cash assistance, home repairs, rental support, larger scale debris removal, and help families get back to work and rebuild their sources of income—laying the foundation for long-term recovery.
One thing people don’t often realize is that when the crisis ends, recovery is just beginning. It can take years for families and communities to fully rebuild. $500,000 helps CORE address long-term needs, including rebuilding homes to be safer and stronger than before, restoring schools and hospitals, and helping families get back to work and regain financial stability. It also supports disaster case management, guiding families through each phase of recovery, and helping them navigate paperwork, resources, and complex systems, so they don’t have to do it alone.
