Empowering Moms,

Empowering Futures

At CORE, we believe in the power of mothers to shape brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities. Join us in investing in these unsung heroes—because moms deserve our support this Mother’s Day and every day! By supporting CORE’s emergency response fund, you will help families in crisis around the world and ensure they’re ready to face whatever comes next.

Meet Maria

Maria lives with her husband and four children in Alan Campos, a small mobile home community in western North Carolina. When Hurricane Helene swept through the area, heavy rains and severe flash floods submerged her home, ruining the structure and many of her family’s precious belongings.

Thankfully, Maria and her family were safe, but the terrifying day remains vivid in their memories. “Believe me, it’s really hard living this experience. And even more when your kids say, I just want to go back home,” she shared.

Powered by our local team, partners, and volunteers, CORE rehabilitated 25 homes in Alan Campos damaged by the storm, including Maria’s. She’s relieved and grateful to be back home, cooking meals for her kids in her own kitchen again.

“And thank you to CORE who has been there from the start. I’m so thankful for them because they find ways to help us get back home soon.”

Our Work

CORE recognizes the vital role that mothers play—as well as the unique challenges they face—in community-led responses to natural and man-made disasters. Around the world, we support and empower mothers and their families with tools to address food insecurity, health crises, violence and exploitation, and livelihood opportunities.

This often includes providing cash or voucher assistance (CVA), which enables us to quickly and effectively reach families in crisis. Moms have used CVA to meet their families’ unique needs, whether it’s paying rent or buying groceries, prescriptions, school supplies, and other essential items. In the longer term, CORE’s CVA programs have given mothers the chance to seek jobs, restart businesses, and create financial plans for their families.

Why Moms?

Moms are the backbone of families and communities. By ensuring their safety, well-being, and economic empowerment, we are strengthening the resilience of the entire community.

Mothers often face numerous barriers to accessing essential resources and opportunities, particularly during times of conflict or crisis. By empowering mothers, we can create ripple effects that uplift entire communities, breaking the cycle of poverty and building a brighter future for generations to come.
