Navigating Disaster: CORE’s Los Angeles Fires Resource Hub

Families directly impacted by the Los Angeles fires are juggling compounding needs, from finding long-term housing and basic necessities like clothing and hygiene items, to filing insurance claims and complex FEMA applications – all while they process this devastating new reality.

You can use this page as a guide for upcoming CORE events, where to find us in the community, and other essential resources and information.

Where to Find Us

CORE’s dedicated staff and volunteers are on the ground every day, supporting community members as they get back on their feet. We’re also working with local partners to distribute relief supplies, organize community clean-ups, and provide urgent cash assistance to those who need it most.

CORE x 7th Day Pod

We have set up a point-of-distribution, or a POD, for the community at this local church. Come by to meet with CORE’s Disaster Case Managers and Resource Navigators, who can connect you with aid applications, advocate for you and your family, and help you through the complex recovery process. You can also learn more about CORE’s house cleaning and smoke remediation program, pick up essential goods like hygiene kits and air purifiers, and take part in other services.

CORE, NDLON, Fire Poppy Project, and All Hands and Hearts are offering smoke remediation services for Altadena and Pasadena renters and homeowners whose homes have been affected by smoke and/or ash damage from the Eaton Fire. Fill out this form to apply today.

Visit the LA County Recovers online resource hub to access local, state, federal, and non-profit recovery resources, as well as LA County department resources for information about FEMA applications, tax relief, and contact information for various county departments.

FEMA Serious Needs Assistance is money to pay for expenses related to a disaster, such as water, food, baby formula, and other emergency supplies.

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) provides a comprehensive list of recovery-related services.

For help with debris removal, contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) at 213-308-8305.

For unincorporated community members, please visit the One-Stop Permitting Centers website for comprehensive information and guidance on the rebuild process.

For people in need of shelter, visit the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority website.

LA Animal Assistance. With many families displaced and vegetation destroyed, there is also a need for assistance for pets and local wildlife. Here is a comprehensive list of organizations providing support for animals.

The Los Angeles Climate Emergency Office has also put together a helpful wildfire public health toolkit.

After the smoke clears from an urban wildfire, serious health risks may still linger. The air quality index, or AQI, is typically a useful tool, but relying on AQI alone has limitations. Click here to learn about when and why you should mask.
