Disaster Preparedness

Crisis mitigation means understanding the vulnerabilities that exist before emergency efforts are needed. We build systems that equip at-risk communities with the ability to fight back when faced with disaster.

Savannah, GA & Gulf States

In response to Hurricanes Florence and Michael in 2018, CORE created a disaster preparedness training program, Savannah Youth Disaster Preparedness Training Program, to address the most urgent community needs in the US gulf states region. Today, we continue to empower young adults from economically challenged neighborhoods and marginalized communities along the hurricane belt so they are able to respond to disaster and support their local communities.

In both our rubble removal and construction projects, CORE works with engineers, architects, and builders from the local communities in order to give agency to those we serve. By training individuals in earthquake-safe design and construction, we are able to better prepare and empower communities.
