August 24, 2021

LOS ANGELES – August 24, 2021 – Today, CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort), the crisis relief organization co-founded by Sean Penn and CEO Ann Lee, announced the appointment of Perrine Mann as the organization’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications. As the newest member of the executive leadership team, Mann will be responsible for leading CORE’s U.S. and international communications strategy.

“As we continue our essential work with COVID relief and other disaster preparedness efforts, Perrine’s leadership and strategic mindset will be essential to CORE’s ongoing work to ensure we reach the right audiences, both our beneficiary communities and our donor base. Her experience working in the public and NGO sector will be a valuable resource as CORE continues our efforts to ensure equitable relief for vulnerable and underserved communities,” said Lee.

Mann joins CORE after three years as Vice President of Marketing and Communications at JVS SoCal, a workforce development nonprofit with a 90 year legacy of empowering people and changing lives. Prior to that role, she held positions at the City of Burbank, Survey Sampling International, Instantly, Inc, and Maricopa County DOT. She also had a distinguished journalism career and was awarded a Health Journalism Fellowship from USC and an International Journalism Fellowship from Yakult.

“I am honored and excited to join CORE, an extraordinary organization with a remarkable team, at a time when the agency’s mission is more relevant than ever. I look forward to contributing to building a better future through CORE’s lifesaving work in emergency relief, disaster preparedness, natural disasters, and community building,” said Mann.

Expanding upon its disaster relief and environmental resiliency efforts, CORE has been on the frontlines of COVID-19 response efforts since March 2020, working throughout the U.S. and internationally in Haiti, Brazil, and India. To date, CORE has administered more than 1.7 million vaccinations and 5.3 million tests, with a significant focus on serving the most vulnerable and hard-hit communities.

CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) is a crisis relief nonprofit organization co-founded by Sean Penn and Ann Lee that is dedicated to saving lives and strengthening communities affected by or vulnerable to crisis. Within hours of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, Penn mobilized a powerful network to take immediate action. More than 11 years later, CORE continues to lead sustainable programs focused on four pillars: emergency relief, disaster preparedness, environmental resilience, and community building. The organization has expanded beyond Haiti to support communities in the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, the United States, India and Latin America. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, CORE has been operating free testing sites across the U.S. alongside local partners, providing essential resources and contact tracing services as well as part of its integrated approach to combat the pandemic. In 2021, CORE is working with its partners in the U.S. and internationally to ensure equitable distribution of vaccines, and has published a manual to encourage equity-focused community-based vaccination operations.
